The Beach at Dusk

The population of Gold Beach is approximately 2000.  It is a rural community located on Oregon's south coast.  Gold Beach is the county seat for Curry County.  SItuated a the mouth of the Rogue River approximately 37 miles north of the Oregon/California border on the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 101).  In addition to containing both county and city offices the city of Gold Beach includes a hospital, rural shopping, restaurants, and one of the finest schools in Oregon.

The climate in Gold Beach is is considered moderate.  The average temperature from June through August is 58 degrees along the coast.  Just a few miles inland the temperature is considerably warmer.  From December through February the average temperature is 48 degrees.  Most of the rain occurs though the winter months while the summer months are mostly dry.  

Gold Beach is surrounded by unsurpassed natural beauty.  To the west is the Pacific Ocean, miles of breathtaking coastline stretch to the noth and the south.  To the east lies an expansive region of uninhabited timberlands and mountains.  

One might consider this area to be "centrally isolated" as t is a 3 hour drive to most larger cities.  But those of us that love living here consider that to be one the the "perks"!
